The Tearoom Our Gallery Tearoom was created in the cellars of St Adrians, a classic pan-tiled 17th century building. Formerly used as storage space, a significant amount of careful restoration was needed to create the current space. Original features have been revealed, such as the flagstone floor, the exposed stone walls, and an old, small window in the wall facing the sea.
Most of the beams are original; those that have been replaced were fashioned by hand and distressed to match the old. The central beam is a flitch beam (a sandwich of metal and wood); this combines the strength of steel with the appearance of natural wood. Prior to the renovation, there was no central support and you had to be careful when walking on the floor above! All in all, we believe that we have created an especially interesting and atmospheric place in which to enjoy our delicious menu. Our coffee is ground fresh from the finest Fairtrade coffee beans on demand for every cup. Our teas are selected from the premium Fairtrade range.
